Wilhelm-Friedrich Graf zu Lynar Wilhelm-Friedrich Graf zu Lynar

Wilhelm-Friedrich Graf zu Lynar knew about the previous assassination plans developed in circles of military opposition sympathizers. He let the conspirators around Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg use his house near Lübbenau for meetings. Lynar was in contact with Fritz Jaeger and with Ludwig Gehre, who arranged for him to meet Henning von Tresckow. On July 20, 1944 Lynar accompanied his former superior, Erwin von Witzleben, into the Bendler Block. After the unsuccessful assassination attempt, Witzleben and Lynar were arrested by the Gestapo near Lübbenau. Wilhelm-Friedrich Graf zu Lynar was sentenced to death by the People’s Court on September 29, 1944 and murdered the same day in Berlin-Plötzensee.
