German Resistance Memorial Center Opening
Opening of the New Permanent Exhibition
The German Resistance Memorial Center's new permanent exhibition was opened by Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Berlin's Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit at a ceremony on 1 July 2014.
Following the opening ceremony in the Maritim Hotel Berlin, Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, Berlin's Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit, Bundestag Vice-President Petra Pau MdB and the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Minister of State Prof. Monika Grütters MdB visited the new permanent exhibition. They were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Johannes Tuchel (Director of the German Resistance Memorial Center), Prof. Dr. Peter Steinbach (Academic Director of the German Resistance Memorial Center), and the Auschwitz survivor and Vice-President of the International Auschwitz Committee Marian Turski from Warsaw.
